On Saturday, December 1, our English Language students were able to “shop” at our Superstar Store. They have been collecting Superstar dollars as incentives for attendance, participation, and special projects within our five classes of English. They receive extra Superstar dollars for understanding the American tradition of being on-time.
We are now nearing the end of our first semester of the 2018-19 year. We have over 50 students, many of whom have escaped turmoil and tragedy from places like Congo, Somalia, Burundi, Rwanda, Togo, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, China, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. They come each week to improve their English skills in order to secure better employment, connect with their children and grandchildren who are learning English more rapidly, and to increase their independence.
